The Phoenix Suns made a plethora of changes to their roster ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season.
While Bradley Beal’s arrival from the Washington Wizards via a blockbuster trade made the most headlines during the offseason, another move grabbed some attention as well.
We are talking about none other than Deandre Ayton’s move to the Portland Trail Blazers in a three-team trade.
Speaking of Ayton, the veteran center recently played against his former team in the regular season.
Upon registering a stunning win over the Suns, Ayton shared a blunt reaction to beating his former team, via the Trail Blazers’ official YouTube channel.
“Not really. You know it’s just another team,” Ayton said.
The Trail Blazers haven’t been a good team for the most part of the 2023-24 NBA season.
In fact, they are the 14th seed in the Western Conference with a terrible 7-19 record this season.
Speaking of the game against the Suns, the Trail Blazers registered a stunning 109-104 win.
Ayton played 40 minutes of the game while putting up 16 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 assists for the Trail Blazers.
It was a terrific double-double performance by Ayton.
It was a nice change of scenery for Ayton, who is averaging just 12.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game for the Trail Blazers this season.
Considering it’s his first season away from the Suns, many expected to see a little dip in his performance, but as of now, Ayton is struggling well beyond every fan’s expectations.
