After years of speculation about the Phoenix Suns wanting to trade former No. 1 overall pick Deandre Ayton, the team finally moved the center on Wednesday as part of the three-way deal with the Milwaukee Bucks and Portland Trail Blazers that involved superstar guard Damian Lillard.

As part of the three-way deal, Ayton was sent to Portland as their new starting center and begins a new era with rookie phenom Scoot Henderson leading the way along with Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant.

Apparently, it didn’t take long for Ayton to embrace this blockbuster trade after spending his entire NBA career with the Suns, as he quickly changed his gear on NBA 2K24, according to Andrew Leezus via NBA Central.

Over the past few years, Ayton has been frustrated with his role in Phoenix, and it has seemed as though getting traded was inevitable, even though new head coach Frank Vogel let it be known he was excited about coaching the 25-year-old center.

Now, Ayton gets a chance at a fresh start on a rebuilding team in which he might have a substantial role.

As for the Suns, Phoenix is trying to keep up with the competition in the Western Conference, with the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, and Denver Nuggets expected to be potential title contenders during the upcoming season.

The Suns have brought in Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal in their attempts to keep up in the competitive West, but it remains to be seen if these two players, along with Devin Booker, prove to be a winning combination.
