The San Francisco 49ers showed a lot of faith in Brock Purdy this offseason.
They made it loud and clear that he was going to be their starter as soon as he got healthy, whether that was in the offseason or at any point in the campaign.
That’s a lot, considering he was — literally — the last pick in last year’s NFL Draft and that not many teams even keep three quarterbacks on their active roster.
However, that’s not a surprise for star WR/RB Deebo Samuel.
In his latest appearance on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams” with Kay Adams, Samuel stated that Purdy actually impressed him as soon as he arrived in the Bay Area, as his work ethic was remarkable and he always showed a determination to be better.
Brock Purdy’s game caught Deebo’s eye last preseason while he was still the 3rd-string QB.
“His mindset of always being ready and the way he prepares. As you get to see him going week in and week out, it’s still kind of amazing.”

Purdy made his way to the field almost by accident.
Both Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance were out with injuries, and he took the offense to a whole new level, going undefeated in every single one of his starts before suffering an elbow injury in the NFC Championship Game.
Perhaps the Niners would’ve lost to the Philadelphia Eagles even with him on the field, but he still made a big case for himself with the way he played.
Now, Kyle Shanahan and his staff believe that Purdy is ready to take another leap forward to prove that last season’s surge wasn’t just a fluke.
And while he’s not the most athletic specimen or the most impressive quarterback by any means, numbers don’t lie, and his numbers were quite good.
