University of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders took the college football world by storm last season even though his Buffaloes only went 4-8 last season and ended the year on a 6-game losing streak.
Overall, Colorado hasn’t won more than five games in a season since 2016, so fans are starving and Sanders recently gave them something to sink their teeth into.
Coach Prime appeared at the spring game in Boulder and according to columnist John Canzano, he grabbed the microphone and shouted out Colorado’s 99-year-old superfan Peggy Coppom and said, “We’re going to get you to a bowl game, baby.”

Colorado hasn’t won a bowl game since 2004, which is a shocking run of subpar performance that far precedes Sanders’ tenure in Boulder.
Last season looked like it was going to be different, as Colorado started 3-0 and was getting National Championship buzz due to their high-profile recruits and explosive offense.
It’s great that Sanders is still so committed to the program, as he is still entrenched in the process of building this team up and has reiterated he isn’t going anywhere despite how high his stock has risen and despite his sons being primed for the NFL.
It’s also nice that he didn’t go too far with his promise to this fan and say they’re going to win a National Championship, as a bowl game is a reasonable goal that should be attainable given all the talent Colorado is returning at key positions, namely at quarterback with Sanders’ son Shedeur.
We’ll see how Colorado does next season in its return to the Big 12, and hopefully Sanders can keep his promise to this lovely fan.
