Expectations are once again sky-high for Deion Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes ahead of the NCAA football season after another offseason of refusing to lay low and hold his tongue.

Colorado is armed with a pair of Heisman Trophy contenders in Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter as it heads back to the Big 12, but Sanders recently showed plenty of humility in revealing what he’s most afraid of this upcoming season.

Sanders recently appeared on Goalcast, and when asked what he’s most afraid of, he said “Not finishing what I started. Whenever I start, I want to finish, man. I got to put a period or exclamation mark at the end of everything that I started, and I hate not finishing something. That’s probably the thing I’m most afraid of.”

He could have been speaking about something else, but it’s pretty easy to make the connection between this quote and his job, which is one of the most consuming jobs anybody in the world can have.

Sanders only gets one chance to coach his son as the star quarterback of the team and potential top-5 pick in next year’s NFL Draft, and this will most likely be their last season together unless Shedeur surprises everyone by staying another year.

There have also been plenty of rumors of Sanders leaving for a job with a bigger program or an NFL head coaching job, and this quote will surely add fuel to that fire as well.

Nevertheless, while Sanders can be one of the most outlandish and braggadocious coaches out there, he often has moments of deep reflection that make you realize what a strong coach and man he is.
