Most of those who watched him play agree that Michael Jordan is the greatest player in NBA history.
Younger fans usually side with LeBron James.
There’s another generation, however, who side with Kobe Bryant.
Kobe was the closest thing we ever got to see to Jordan, and he was the ultimate winner, even winning more rings than James.
That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see DeMar DeRozan claiming that he was his GOAT (via Club 520 Podcast & Legion Hoops).
DeMar DeRozan:
“Kobe is my GOAT… but what’s real is real. The s*** [James Harden] was doing— I don’t think we’ll ever see that again.”

DeRozan has tried to emulate every single one of Kobe’s moves and make them his own, and he certainly has mastered the art of the baseline turnaround fadeaway.
However, as much as DeRozan idolized Kobe and watched his scoring outbursts in his prime, he also stated that what prime James Harden did may never be replicated.
Even so, Bryant was doing so against much tougher and more physical defenses and not relying on three-pointers and free throws as much as Harden did.
Not to take anything away from Harden and his impressive scoring streaks, but chances are he wouldn’t have been able to do so ten or thirteen years before, when Kobe was wreaking havoc out there.
