Derek Carr’s first year with the New Orleans Saints didn’t go as well as he hoped as he struggled to get on the same page with the rest of the offense.
Carr was the Saints’ big-time acquisition last offseason after he was released by the Las Vegas Raiders, a move that was widely expected yet still shocking to see happen considering what the quarterback meant to the franchise.
Carr was considered the face of the Raiders organization for years, though his final year with the team ended on a low note as he was benched down the stretch.
Now, Carr has a chance to rebuild his value with a New Orleans team that is set up to succeed.
He’ll also have his chance at revenge as the Saints will take on the Raiders in Week 17 of the 2024 NFL season.
Although that matchup is still several months away, Carr is looking forward to the challenge via Kay Adams.
“But Week 17 I’m trying to win,” Carr said. “I’m definitely trying to win. I always root for the Raiders, but not that week.”

In the video, Carr explains how much love he still has for people in the Las Vegas organization.
He specifically namedrops Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce and star receiver Davante Adams.
That game will have some added excitement in it due to Carr’s past with the Raiders and it’ll be interesting to see if he can carry New Orleans to victory when the time comes.
