The 2022 NFL season marked the end of Derek Carr’s time with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Carr isn’t necessarily known for public statements, or spending time in the limelight.

However, he has recently peeled back the curtain, giving fans a glimpse of what that final season looked like.

Per Carr, via the Associated Press and the NFL’s website, “They just didn’t get my best and that drove me crazy at the end of the year.”

Carr also went on to say, “I just didn’t feel like myself and I feel bad for the coaches and players.”

In his final season with the team, Carr started in 15 games, throwing for 3,522 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.

This was tied for the highest interception total of his career, and the 3,522 yards were his lowest in a season since 2017.

It appears that Carr was a shell of himself last season, and he was fully aware of what was going on.

Despite his shortcomings last year, Carr is determined to get back on track with his new team.

He’ll be joined by a familiar face, as new head coach Dennis Allen was briefly on the Raiders coaching staff when Carr was there.

With any luck, Allen and Carr will be able to work in harmony, able to get the Saints in a great position.

Carr might get some help from his divisional rivals, as they are all likely to start new or rookie quarterbacks this season.

Can Carr’s prior experience help the Saints achieve a playoff berth in 2023?
