Derek Carr no longer plays for the Las Vegas Raiders, but that team will always hold a special place in his heart.
For years, Carr was the leader of the locker room, and a guy who stood with the team through thick and thin.
The Raiders have been poorly managed from top to bottom for years now, with a revolving door at the head coach position that hasn’t done them any favors in terms of contention.
That was evident in 2021.
Following a string of controversial decisions, they still decided to hold onto Jon Gruden.
Then, after disturbing reports about some homophobic and sexist emails, Gruden was forced to resign.
The Raiders had assistant HC and special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia fill in for him, and he led the team to an impressive 7-5 record and an unlikely postseason berth.
That’s why Carr wants Bisaccia to get his flowers and another opportunity to be a head coach.
Talking to Chris Long for his podcast, Carr claimed that no team would ever regret hiring Bisaccia, claiming that the entire Raiders locker room wanted him to be the full-time coach.
“You would never regret hiring Rich Bisaccia as your head coach. He’s one of my all time favorite coaches I’ve ever had.”

He believes he’s the kind of guy who could bring the best out of every single player, questioning the Raiders’ decision not to keep him on a permanent basis.
Fortunately for the current Raiders, Mark Davis learned from that mistake and held onto Antonio Pierce this time around, perhaps due to all the threats of players requesting trades if that wasn’t the case.
Hopefully, Bisaccia will get another chance somewhere down the line.
