Since winning the inaugural NBA In-season Tournament, the Los Angeles Lakers have crashed back down to earth as they’ve lost four of their last five games.

The Lakers’ most recent loss was to the Chicago Bulls, a disappointing start to their road trip that raised some alarms among the fanbase.

Los Angeles hasn’t been able to capture the same intensity and focus they displayed in the tournament, and that’s resulted in some poor outings as of late.

The team should still be happy they won the tournament as they took some pride in raising a banner to commemorate the accomplishment.

There was a lot of debate among media and fans about whether the Lakers should even raise a banner, but the franchise eventually decided they would hang one next to their championship banners.

However, after their loss to Chicago Derek Fisher took a swipe at their IST banner via Lakers Daily.

“I think there’s a reason why you wait until the end (of the season) to celebrate a championship,” Fisher said.

One way to interpret Fisher’s comments is that he is not a fan of raising a banner for the tournament.

Another potential message is that Los Angeles let their foot off the gas pedal after giving it their all during group play and the knockout rounds.

There’s some merit to what Fisher is saying as the team needed stakes in order to feel engaged for the entire game.

Hopefully the purple and gold can find their groove again, or else they could be looking at another dogfight to get into the playoffs.
