The Cleveland Browns are likely stuck with quarterback Deshaun Watson regardless of how he plays this season, the next season and the season after that.
The reason why is that he has the biggest salary cap charge in NFL history over the 2025 and 2026 seasons, according to analyst Warren Sharp.
“He has a $73,000,000 cap hit in both 2025 and 2026 … most of any player in NFL history,” Sharp recently wrote on social media.
a few fun facts about Deshaun Watson:
he has a $73,000,000 cap hit in 2025 and 2026… most of any player in NFL history
also was the most inaccurate QB in the NFL last yr
also threw 3 of the most hilarious passes last yr that you will ever see pic.twitter.com/PE3ez7L8em

The unfortunate thing for the Browns is that Watson has not played up to the standard of his contract.
A three-time Pro Bowler with the Houston Texans, the 28-year-old has not come close to that level with the Browns due to injuries and a lengthy suspension that have limited him to just 12 total games over the past two seasons.
Yet, the Browns have won eight of those 12 games, including a 5-1 record last season before a shoulder injury sidelined him again.
Despite that record, he has thrown just 14 touchdown passes with nine interceptions while posting a completion percentage of 59.8 percent.
Those numbers are not good enough for the contract he has, which is why he has to produce to prove he is worth the money.
But in the end, the Browns likely can’t move on from him because the salary cap hit is so huge.
Perhaps a healthy Watson will prove he can finally lead the Browns to success this season and beyond.
