The New York Jets have one thing on their minds right now, and that’s to compete for a Super Bowl.

That’s why they brought Aaron Rodgers in and why they doubled down on that commitment by revamping their offense this offseason.

Nonetheless, there has been a bit of a buzz because of the fact that Rodgers hasn’t been there for mandatory minicamp.

With that in mind, Jets insider Connor Hughes took to Twitter to shed some light on what’s going on in Gotham with their future Hall of Famer quarterback.

Aaron Rodgers planned this trip when he was still rehabbing. The #Jets have known about it from the moment there was an overlap with the release of the minicamp schedule.

Rodgers is “unexcused” because you can’t excuse a trip, but not a contract dispute (Haason Reddick).…

Per Hughes, Rodgers is away on vacation, and while the absence is unexcused because teams cannot excuse a trip, they’ve been aware of this situation for months now.

Apparently, Rodgers planned his vacation while he was still rehabbing, and the Jets knew about this overlap as soon as the schedule was released.

Hughes also notes that Rodgers had been there for all voluntary training camps since he arrived in New York, which is why there’s not any sort of unrest within the organization, and no one inside the Jets’ building thinks it’s a big deal at all.

Rodgers is a consummate and proven veteran and professional, and he’ll be ready when they need him to be ready, even if he’s not out there during a three-day camp.

Perhaps he’s become a victim of his reputation, but as much as some will always speculate and think the worst, it seems like there’s not that much to read into this story to begin with.
