The Miami Heat were quite close to taking down the Philadelphia 76ers to secure the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Instead, they wound up losing the game by one point, and more importantly, they may have lost their best player as well.
Star G/F Jimmy Butler was in evident discomfort for most of the contest, and it was later revealed that he suffered an injury in his MCL.
Now, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Butler is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.

Butler admitted that he felt like he was hurting the team on offense more than he was helping them.
He and Tyler Herro combined to shoot 14-for-45 from the floor, and that’s not going to translate into success very often.
Granted, the fact that they were still in the game and had a chance to win should be encouraging, but the prospect of being without Butler clearly isn’t.
Butler is one of the best two-way players in the game and one of the elite playoff performers in the league.
He’s the last guy you want to see on the other side of the court when the season is on the line or in a seven-game series.
Now, he could be extremely limited against the Chicago Bulls in their win-or-go-home game for the No. 8 seed, if he’s on the court at all.
This doesn’t bode well for Erik Spoelstra’s team, and this might be the end of the season for them.
