The Golden State Warriors entered the offseason with high aspirations.
They wanted to trade for Paul George or get another star, but that hasn’t been the case thus far.
If anything, they lost two key pieces of their rotation in Klay Thompson and Chris Paul, and while they’ve made a couple of additions, they’re still far behind other contending teams in the Western Conference.
Notably, the Warriors have been keeping tabs on Lauri Markkanen’s situation with the Utah Jazz, and they’re rumored to be the strongest and most active candidate to land him.
Needless to say, any team looking to engage in trade talks with the Warriors will look to get either Jonathan Kuminga or Brandin Podziemski, or both.
However, a report by Angela Martin of NBC Sports Bays Area reveals that the Warriors have no intention whatsoever of parting ways with Podziemski, and they would even rather move on from Kuminga:
There’s reportedly a leaguewide belief that the Warriors have a preference when it comes to trading Podz or Kuminga for Markkanen https://t.co/Tl0L2EIIkV

Kuminga showed glimpses of greatness last season.
He’s got the potential to be a two-way star, and is one of the most athletic players in the league.
Nonetheless, it’s always seemed like coach Steve Kerr hasn’t fully trusted him to log big minutes, as if he wasn’t ready.
As for Podziemski, he might not have the same upside as Kuminga, but he played a big role right out of the gate and is expected to be a starter next season.
This is a difficult decision to make, and the Warriors must be very careful when assessing this potential trade.
