The Cleveland Cavaliers have one big priority ahead of the offseason, and that’s to make sure Donovan Mitchell doesn’t go anywhere.

For years, people and pundits speculated about Mitchell’s future, with most of them predicting he would eventually force his way out of Cleveland — and potentially to New York — by not signing a contract extension.

Fast forward to today, and it seems like there was no truth to those reports, as the team is quite confident in their ability to get a deal done soon.

Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean they won’t have to compromise and consider other factors, even if it goes against their plans.

That’s why, according to Marc Stein, they won’t even look to move Jarrett Allen, as Mitchell doesn’t want to lose him as a teammate (via ESPN Cleveland).

There were some disturbing reports about Allen and how he lost his teammates’ confidence.

Apparently, they thought he could’ve played through injury in the playoffs.

Allen suffered a rib injury and reportedly couldn’t even raise his arms without being in big pain, yet the word around the locker room was that he could’ve played through it.

That, plus Evan Mobley’s impending contract extension made it seem like his days in Cleveland were all but over.

Still, if their star wants him there, then he must stay there, and it’s not like he hasn’t been very productive on both ends of the floor, even if the fit next to Evan Mobley continues to be somewhat questionable.
