When it comes to their running game, it seems like the Buffalo Bills simply can’t catch a break.

The running game has been their Achilles heel for way too long now, and it might be the case again next season.

According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Bills will have to play without RB Nyheim Hines for the whole campaign.

While sitting stationary on a jet ski, Nyheim Hines was struck by another rider and sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Hines will require surgery and will miss the 2023 season. https://t.co/hR1VVD7BmW

The former Indianapolis Colts running back was sitting stationary on a jet ski before another rider crashed into him and caused him several non-life-threatening injuries, added Pelissero.

This is a big blow for the Bills’ aspirations, as they had just traded for him last season.

While not a bruising or physical back, he’s proven to be one of the best pass-catching backs in the game, and he could’ve been a solid change-of-pace, third-down back next to Josh Allen.

The Bills enter the upcoming campaign with plenty to prove.

They’ve been serious Super Bowl contenders for years now, but they’ve constantly fallen short of their goal, and some believe a more balanced offensive approach is just what they need to get over the hump once and for all.

And with Aaron Rodgers joining the New York Jets, the Bills will have a tougher path in their division and their conference, so they might have to dig deep into the trade market to find themselves a new passing-down back before the start of the season.

As for Hines, let’s just hope he has a speedy recovery and can get back on the field sooner rather than later.
