The Phoenix Suns are locked and loaded for the new NBA season, and some have them as the favorites to come out of the Western Conference and play for the world championship come June.

They may have the league’s best star trio in Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, but one of multiple concerns some have for them is the defensive end, as Booker and Beal have never been known as adept defenders.

But Booker seemed to push back on that narrative while talking to the media, per ClutchPoints.

“If you don’t know that by now, you’re late… It’s important for Playoff basketball. If you can’t do it, you have to be off the court.” Booker said via Trevor Booth of Clutchpoints.

Booker is one of basketball’s premier scorers, and he is particularly lethal in the mid-range area, especially in iso situations.

He set career highs last season in scoring (27.8 points a game) and shooting accuracy (49.4 percent from the field), and in the playoffs, he reached the 45-point mark three times.

Booker was particularly lethal in the second round of the playoffs versus the Denver Nuggets when he had a two-game span in which he scored 83 points while shooting nearly 80 percent from the field.

But defense will certainly be the key for Phoenix, especially after they gave up over 120 points three times in six games to the eventual NBA champs in that series.

They have a new head coach in Frank Vogel, who is considered a defensive guru, but they will need capable players on that end of the floor in order to be elite defensively.

Booker will need to be one of the players who lead the way on that end of the floor if the Suns are to ultimately win their first world title.
