Earlier this season, the Arizona Diamondbacks appeared to be a surprise contender in the National League.
They even led the National League West as late as June after starting off the season hot.
Arizona also was a buyer at the trade deadline, acquiring closer Paul Sewald from the Seattle Mariners.
However, since the deadline, things have been falling apart.
On Tuesday night, they took a loss against the red-hot Los Angeles Dodgers, who sent them to 10 games back of first place in the NL West.
Arizona also fell to .500 for the first time since April 7.
On Twitter, Bob Nightengale pointed out just how bad things have gotten in Arizona.
For the 1st time since April 7, the Arizona #Dbacks are a .500 team. They have lost 7 in a row and have lost 25 of their last 34 games. Still only 2 back in a weak NL wild-card race

The D-Backs are still alive in the Wild Card race, sitting just two games back of the third and final spot.
However, Tuesday night marked their seventh consecutive loss.
The team has also lost eight of its last 10 games.
Now, a once-promising season appears to be falling off the rails for the D-Backs.
Even the San Francisco Giants have passed them in the standings, and before long, the San Diego Padres could do the same, as they have played much better baseball in the second half of the season.
There is still time for the D-Backs to right the ship, as just under two months remain in the regular season.
But if the losses continue to pile up, Arizona will continue to be on the outside looking in, as other teams could pass them.
The D-Backs have yet to reach the postseason since 2017.
