Arizona Diamondbacks fans have been holding their breath since late Thursday night, when they watched Corbin Carroll, their prized young star, hold his shoulder in pain after a swing.
If they are going to retain the top spot in the NL West or dream of a deep playoff run, they absolutely need Carroll to avoid a major injury.
The way he immediately grabbed his shoulder after the swing was extremely concerning.
However, D-Backs reporter Theo Mackie shared some potentially encouraging news regarding the dynamic outfielder.
“Torey Lovullo says the D-Backs got some ‘encouraging news’ on Corbin Carroll but he is still set to undergo imaging tomorrow. Described it as right shoulder discomfort. ‘The strength and the stability of the shoulder was fine’ in initial testing, per Lovullo,” Mackie tweeted.

If Carroll gets away without a major injury, it would be a win for Arizona and he could be back in a matter of days.
However, there is also the chance that there was a dislocation and a quick relocation.
The team will also want to know the state of ligaments and other parts of the shoulder.
That’s what the imaging is for.
There should be a more concrete update when the results of the imaging (likely an MRI) are ready.
Carroll has slashed a cool .290/.365/.559 with 18 home runs and 24 stolen bases.
He has been a godsend to the D-Backs and the main responsible behind their excellent 50-38 start.
They still hold the lead in the NL West, half a game ahead of the Dodgers.
If they are able to have Carroll back in the lineup soon, they are capable of taking the division away from the Dodgers.
