For the previous six seasons, forward Dillon Brooks had been associated with the Memphis Grizzlies, and he had helped them become a rising young team in the NBA.

They went from reaching the play-in tournament and losing in the first round of the playoffs in 2021, to being competitive in the Western Conference semifinals in 2022 and claiming the second-best record in the West last season.

Through it all, Brooks established himself as not only an excellent defender but also as a villain who loves to throw shade and physical hits at opponents.

He’s now a member of the Houston Rockets, another upstart team, and he dissed his former team by saying, “They have no swagger,” per Bleacher Report.

While the Rockets are 6-6 and recently went on a six-game winning streak, the Grizzlies are 3-10 and are seeing their chances of making the playoffs, let alone being competitive there, start to decrease.

A major reason for that poor start is the suspension of star guard Ja Morant, who will miss the first 25 games of this season due to his latest of numerous gun-related incidents.

Memphis is also without center Steven Adams, who is out for the year after having surgery on his right knee, and they’re now missing former Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart because of a sprained ankle.

Much of the swagger Brooks says the Grizzlies lack came from him, and it led to several infamous incidents he was involved in.

He has been ejected and even suspended for hard or dirty fouls on players such as LeBron James, Donovan Mitchell, and the Golden State Warriors’ Gary Payton II, and it ultimately hurt his team in big games.
