Over the weekend, former NBA superstars Dirk Nowitzki and Dwyane Wade will join Tony Parker, Pau Gasol, and San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich as inductees into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Although there are a lot of different connections here, with Parker and Gasol both playing for Popovich at one point and all of these players winning at least one title during their playing careers in the NBA, the former faces of the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat franchises have a deeper connection.
The relationship between Nowitzki and Wade wasn’t great in the past due to Wade and LeBron James taking shots at the German superstar during the NBA Finals in 2011 for being sick.
More than a decade later, the two NBA icons are going into the Hall of Fame together with their beef seemingly squashed, according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.
Dirk Nowitzki said he & Dwyane Wade have bonded over the past few months since being inducted into the Hall of Fame together. He said he previously had a “frosty” relationship with Wade because of the competition they had at the highest levels, but is happy that’s behind them now

Back in 2011, Wade and James were being pretty childish in making fun of Nowitzki for dealing with an illness in the Finals, as they were seen pretending to cough before the game, which was a direct shot at the Mavericks star.
Fortunately for Nowitzki, it only motivated him to elevate his game against the star-studded Heat, as he led Dallas to victory in six games while heading home with NBA Finals MVP honors.
That was an embarrassing series loss for the Heat, who were without a doubt the best team in the league and boasting that seven championships were on the horizon with James and Chris Bosh joining Wade in Miami.
As it usually does, time heals all wounds, with Nowitzki and Wade able to enjoy becoming Hall of Famers with no bad blood between them.
