Klay Thompson’s time with the Golden State Warriors has come to an end and according some inside reporting, things fell apart harshly in the end.
As reported by Anthony Slater, per Evan Sidery, Thompson “ripped into the Warriors’ coaching staff” when he was benched in placed of Brandin Podziemski earlier in the season.
He also apparently mentioned his upcoming free agency during these heated discussions, a sure sign that he was ready to leave the team.
Months later, that is exactly what Thompson did.

The Warriors are the only team that Thompson has ever played for but it became clear over the last few months that he was ready to move on.
He wasn’t able to work out a new deal with the team last summer and a possible contract extension hung over his head all season.
Things were only made worse by Thompson’s lackluster season, which saw him shooting worse than he ever had before.
It all added up to a very troubled season for Thompson and the Warriors and now the two sides have parted ways.
Thompson is heading to the Dallas Mavericks but a change of scenery doesn’t guarantee better output on the court.
If he continues to shoot poorly, Mavericks fans will question why their team made the choice they did.
Of course, it Thompson looks like his former self, he will be a huge asset to Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the rest of the Mavericks roster.
He could really help, or hurt, them.
Things ended badly with Golden State but Thompson is now looking for a fresh, new beginning in Dallas.
