Although they were the favorites to win, the Milwaukee Bucks were taken down by the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night, losing 117-112 on the road.

That means the Bucks are now 18-20 on the road this season after going 1-2 on their latest road trip.

Speaking with Eric Nehm, head coach Doc Rivers touched upon what the team is lacking when it comes to finding victories when they’re not at home.

“I don’t know. I think focus,” Rivers said.

He then gave a lengthier explanation about how the Bucks need to change:

“I’ve actually been sitting back and watching everything. Not just our players, but our travel crew, everything and I’ve made a lot of notes. I will say that. I won’t share that. But we don’t bring the necessary professionalism, seriousness on the road. And that’s something that we can fix. And that’s something we’re going to have to fix.”

After the game, I asked Doc Rivers what he thinks the Bucks have been unable to do on the road that has led to their struggles.

Rivers said he wouldn’t get into specifics about his comments so we don’t know what sort of “professionalism” and “seriousness” the team and its crew are lacking.

We also don’t know how Rivers plans to fix that moving forward.

However, he doesn’t have that much time because the season is winding down and Milwaukee needs to make those corrections as soon as possible.

With a 47-28 record, the Bucks are the second-best team in the East although they are far behind the first-place Boston Celtics.

They are not that far ahead of the third-place Cleveland Cavaliers, however.

That means that if they give up many more games, they could slip down to the third seed.

But correcting these problems is about more than seeding because the postseason is long and very difficult and requires teams to play to the best of their abilities.

They need to quickly make any adjustments necessary to play with the sort of professionalism and seriousness that Rivers wants.
