The Los Angeles Dodgers are used to having some of the best pitching staffs in MLB, particularly in recent years.
They have made pitching depth and quality organizational priorities over the years.
Injuries, however, have hit them hard this season.
Right now, Walker Buehler, Dustin May, Tony Gonsolin, Emmet Sheehan and Yoshinobu Yamamoto are on the injured list.
That’s an entire rotation right there, which is why the fact they are first in the NL West with a 7.5-game lead before Thursday’s games is so impressive.
They are, however, enjoying some excellent news on Thursday.
“The Dodgers activated 10-time All-Star Clayton Kershaw from the injured list and designated RHP Yohan Ramirez for assignment,” the team announced via Twitter.

Kershaw had been out all year to this point after undergoing shoulder surgery last year.
The shoulder is probably the most important body part in the science of pitching, let alone for a 36-year-old legend.
He seems to be fully healthy right now after making several rehab starts in the minor leagues.
He posted a 3.60 ERA in 10 innings in the Dodgers’ farm system before being activated to face the San Francisco Giants on Thursday afternoon.
Kershaw’s return represents a major boost for a staff that still managed to be in the top 10 in ERA, placing ninth with a 3.75 mark.
The future Hall of Famer has a career 2.48 ERA and is a ten-time All-Star, a three-time NL Cy Young award winner and the proud 2014 NL MVP.
His return is definitely a big win not only for LA, but for those who love baseball.
