The Los Angeles Dodgers have managed to overcome crucial absences this year: Trea Turner left as a free agent, Cody Bellinger is gone, Walker Buehler is injured, and other stars have spent significant time on the shelf.
Yet here they are, leading the NL West by four games with a solid 64-46 record.
Two players have been key in their 2023 campaign: Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts.
The two veterans have carried the Dodgers on their backs and produced some of their finest seasons.
These are two former MVP award winners in their respective primes, and LA has benefited from their skill and talent.
They have been incredible when it comes to slugging.
Their ability to get extra-base hits is unbelievable.
In fact, they have their place in the franchise history books for it.
“Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts are the first pair of @Dodgers teammates to each have 60 extra-base hits through 110 team games since Babe Herman and Johnny Frederick in 1929,” ESPN Stats & Info tweeted.

Having 60 extra-base hits in a single season is hard enough, and these guys have done it in 110 team games.
That’s amazing.
Betts reached 60 on Sunday night with a home run: he has 29 doubles, a triple, and 30 round-trippers.
Freeman, on the other hand, was already there for a little while.
For the year, the former MVP and World Series champ with the Atlanta Braves has 40 doubles, two triples, and 23 dingers.
Between the two stars, they have a whopping 125 extra-base hits; and don’t look now but J.D. Martinez is at 49.
This is an incredibly talented offensive team headlined by two of baseball’s brightest stars.
