Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias was arrested and accused of felony domestic violence last week on Monday, September 4.
A couple of days later, MLB placed him on administrative leave, so he is not with the team and probably won’t be anytime soon (if ever).
The Dodgers know that they have to move on without Urias, who can (and probably will) be suspended by the league even in the unlikely case that the criminal justice system doesn’t decide to proceed.
And, since he is not a first-time offender, punishment could be considerable.
In any case, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts discussed the situation and implied the team is not counting on Urias.
“#Dodger MGR Dave Roberts, when asked if locker removal means team has moved on from Julio Urias: ‘I think so. That’s where we’re at. There’s not much for me to comment on the fact that it’s just like I said on the first day, it’s just it’s a very very unfortunate sad situation,’” LA sports reporter and analyst Mike DiGiovanna tweeted.

As Roberts states, it’s a very unfortunate situation.
Baseball-wise, however, Urias probably won’t be returning to the team.
Roberts’ remarks are just confirmation of something we all suspected for quite some time.
It’s yet another blow to the Dodgers’ pitching depth, but they have shown time and time again that they can overcome these types of situations.
Urias’ season will probably finish with disappointing numbers, such as his 4.60 ERA and 24 home runs allowed in 117.1 innings.
It has been, statistically, his worst season.
His year has the potential to go south on other ends, too.
