The MLB world is in shock as MLB insider Jeff Passan revealed that Los Angeles Dodgers star left-hander Julio Urias was arrested on Sunday night and booked with felony domestic violence charges.

He was released on bond ($50,000) earlier on Monday morning, but Passan explained in an article that he is expected in court on September 27.

The team provided a short release about the situation, according to a Dodgers insider.

“Dodgers’ statement on Julio Urías, who was arrested late last night and charged with a felony for ‘corporal injury on a spouse,’ per @SamBlum3. Urías was released on $50,000 bond this morning. @JeffPassan was first to report,” Dodgers reporter Fabian Ardaya tweeted.

The statement, seen in Ardaya’s tweet, basically said that the Dodgers are aware of the incident involving Urias, that he didn’t travel with the team for their upcoming series and that since the team is still gathering information and facts, there will not be further comment at this time.

It’s not the first time Urias has been involved in a domestic violence incident.

It also happened in 2019, but he wasn’t charged and got away with a 20-game suspension by MLB.

There is no precedent for a second offender of MLB’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.

That, and the fact there are criminal charges this time, makes a much longer suspension by the league not only possible, but likely.

The pitcher had a 4.60 ERA for LA this season, but it’s unclear when or if he will pitch again this year.
