Earlier this week, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst caused a stir ahead of NBA free agency as he teased the prospect of the Cleveland Cavaliers doing something big, which he wasn’t allowed to disclose.

With the Cavs being among the league’s elite teams as currently constructed and possibly needing a year or two to come together with so many young players, many wondered what moves the team could be considering this summer.

As these kinds of rumors tend to do, it sparked a reaction from the Cavs’ best player, Donovan Mitchell.

Mitchell took to Twitter to downplay Windhorst’s rumor, with the superstar guard joking that it was nothing more than boredom that led to the rumor surfacing with no players mentioned.

Outside of a rumor that the team could consider trading Isaac Okoro after they were eliminated by the New York Knicks in the first round of the NBA playoffs, the Cavs have been able to avoid being involved in any of the rumors circulating around the league until now.

Although Mitchell has poked fun at Windhorst, the veteran ESPN analyst predicted the Utah Jazz blowing things up last summer, which led to the superstar being dealt to the Cavs.

That likely has Mitchell a bit nervous that Cleveland may have something brewing, but it’s highly unlikely he’d be involved, as the Cavs seem intent on building around the 26-year-old moving forward.

It’ll be interesting to see if there is some truth to Windhorst stirring the pot and if the Cavs are preparing to make some moves to upgrade the roster before next season.
