Mitchell set the Cavaliers’ playoff debut scoring record with 38 points.
He also became the first player to score 30 or more points in 20 of his first 40 playoff games.
Despite all the criticism he received during his time with the Utah Jazz, Mitchell is made for these moments.
The guard carried his team, making big plays against the Knicks, but it wasn’t enough for them.
He finished the game with 38 points, five rebounds and eight rebounds.
Now, the Cavaliers need to make the adjustments in Game 2 of this series.
Mitchell made big shots, but Jalen Brunson was on a tear too, helping his team with 27 points.
