The Jacksonville Jaguars are coming off back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in nearly two decades.
However, unlike the 2022 season, which saw them win the AFC South and a playoff game, the team failed to make the playoffs in 2023.
Doug Pederson’s team failed to capitalize on a solid 8-3 start, but the Super Bowl-winning head coach knows what the team was missing last year:
A deep threat in the form of free agent signee Gabe Davis.
“He was a big, tall receiver that could go over the middle, he was physical and could block. I would say that’s a piece that we missed a little bit last year,” Pederson recently said of Davis on NFL Network’s The Insiders.

The Jaguars signed Davis to a three-year contract earlier this offseason.
The former Bill comes over after four quality seasons as a role player in Buffalo.
His best season of his four-year career came in 2022 when he recorded 48 receptions for 836 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Florida native will be looking to help fill the void left by former All-Pro wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who left to join the rival Titans earlier this offseason.
Pro Bowl quarterback Trevor Lawrence will now be throwing to Davis, first-round rookie Brian Thomas Jr. out of LSU, and 1,000-yard wide receiver Christian Kirk.
He also has a Pro Bowl tight end at his disposal in Evan Engram.
But look for Davis to be key in stretching the field for this offense in the way that Pederson and Co. are hoping.
