The Jacksonville Jaguars were the most disappointing team on Sunday’s NFL slate.

Facing the San Francisco 49ers with Deebo Samuel back, Chase Young making his debut, and coming off a Bye week and three consecutive losses wasn’t a promising picture.

However, the Jaguars were also well-rested, at home, and were playing their best football of the season.

So, even if oddsmakers thought they would lose this game, no one saw this beatdown coming.

That’s why HC Doug Pederson called this loss a ‘wake-up call’ for the team, himself included, and asked what everyone had to give up to make sure that it didn’t happen again in any of the eight games remaining in the regular season (via Mia O’Brien).

Doug Pederson’s message to the team:

“We haven’t done anything yet…. Little bit of a wake up call, honestly. Myself included. What are we willing to give up, next 8 games so we don’t do this again?” #Jaguars | #DUUUVAL

The Niners scored 34 points and only allowed 3.

Their defense suffocated Trevor Lawrence better than any other team thus far, holding him to just 17 completions on 29 passes for 185 yards, two interceptions, and a passer rating of just 48.8

TE George Kittle had his best outing of the season with 116 yards and one score in just three receptions, and Brock Purdy was back to his efficient ways with 19 completions on 26 passes for 296 yards and three touchdowns.

The Jaguars are still atop their division and have a winnable schedule for the remainder of the season.

Still, they’ve now entered the long list of teams that look great against bad teams and not so good against actual contenders, and it’s going to take a lot to turn the narrative back in their favor after this erratic performance.
