It’s anybody’s guess what’s going to happen at the top of the 2024 NFL Draft after USC’s Caleb Williams goes No. 1 to the Chicago Bears, as there is a ton of top-end quarterback talent and quite a few teams in need of a new signal-caller.
Mock drafts are being shaken up left and right, but one draft insider believes he has an idea of what might happen at the No. 3 pick.
NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah shared a theory that was presented to him about the New England Patriots preferring LSU Heisman winner Jayden Daniels over UNC’s Drake Maye, saying “If Jayden was there at three, the thought was ‘Okay, New England takes Jayden.’ If Jayden goes two, now all of a sudden pick three…we might be open for business.”
Daniel Jeremiah shared an interesting theory that was presented to him regarding the #Patriots preferring Jayden Daniels over Drake Maye:
“One of the things that was brought up to me was, if you look at [Eliot Wolf] in Cleveland… 2018. He was there as the Assistant GM… they… pic.twitter.com/ZaEQhxmUip

Jeremiah compared this scenario to another previously loaded QB class in 2018 when the Cleveland Browns took Baker Mayfield first overall because they weren’t in love with Josh Allen, while the Patriots could be looking for a trade if Daniels goes second because they might not be in love with Drake Maye.
Daniels and Maye have seemingly been the consensus picks at No. 2 and 3 for months, but it’s still unclear which order they’ll go.
If the Pats do decide to move down, Jeremiah mentioned the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings as two of the most likely teams to move up, as both have major questions at QB.
The draft is right around the corner and the theories are getting spicier by the day, and we can’t wait to see this all play out on the stage.
