As the 2024 NFL Draft draws near, the debate grows louder and louder about the star quarterbacks from the college level coming into the NFL game and where those players should land in the first round or beyond.

At the top of the draft, there are three players currently in contention for the first three picks, with USC’s Caleb Williams expected to go No. 1 to the Chicago Bears and either North Carolina’s Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels out of LSU going No. 2 to the Washington Commanders.

Whoever doesn’t get drafted at No. 2 will likely land with the New England Patriots at No. 3, with the storied NFL franchise in desperate need of a young quarterback to build around and potentially make their franchise player moving forward.

That said, the intrigue really starts at No. 2 when the Commanders get on the clock, with most mock drafts having Maye in that spot rather than Daniels, but Chris Simms of NBC Sports decided to shake things up a bit, which sparked quite a reaction from the former Tar Heels star on Twitter.

Simms believes that five other quarterbacks in the upcoming draft are more talented than Maye, which is a drastic difference compared to most quarterback rankings right now.

It comes as no surprise that Maye would get a little irritated with this ranking, as many analysts expected him to be the second quarterback off the board on April 25 behind arguably the most talented player in the draft, Williams.

Although anything can happen on draft day, as one big-name player always seems to go much lower than anticipated, only time will tell how this shakes out and whether Maye is the quarterback who has to wait some time before he hears his name called.
