New England Patriots fans won’t have many reasons to tune in and watch their team in 2024.
Jacoby Brissett starting over Drake Maye has dampened all the appeal that this season could have.
They lost their best defensive player when they traded Matthew Judon, they don’t have a lot of offensive talent, and they might have the worst offensive line in the entire league.
That’s why, even though their rookie quarterback may have struggled, the fans still want to get a glimpse of their future.
Notably, Maye also feels that he’s ready.
Following his performance in the preseason finale, he claimed that he could definitely suit up and play in Week 1 if asked to (via NBC Sports Boston’s Patriots Coverage).
Would Drake Maye feel ready to play Week 1, if asked?

Maye had his best outing yet, completing 13 of 20 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown.
And while that was all against backups, it was still encouraging.
The Patriots will roll with the veteran Jacoby Brissett in his place, and the fans know he doesn’t bring that much to the table.
Still, they don’t want to make the same mistake they made with Mac Jones and will only send Maye to the field once they’re 100% certain that he’s ready to handle the offense.
Maye is very talented and could be one of the best quarterbacks of his generation, but he’s also a little raw.
Hopefully, the coaching staff will change their minds about him at some point in the season and give the fans a reason to actually tune in and watch.
