Throughout his NBA career, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors has been fined a number of times for his actions on the court.
He has probably lost hundreds of thousands of dollars because of fines and suspensions.
Because of that, Green told “The Big Podcast” that he doesn’t think NBA players are set up to be wealthy.
He called out the fact that a referee could be mad at him, fine him a massive amount of money, and eat into his salary instantly.
Between that and how much stars are taxed, Green feels the NBA isn’t setting players up for a lot of wealth.
“It’s actually not set up for us to be wealthy after we’re done playing.”

With that being said, many NBA fans will scoff at the notion that basketball players struggle to be wealthy.
They are paid millions of dollars a year, despite being taxed a lot.
Additionally, when they lose money because of fines or suspensions, many would argue that it’s their own fault and their actions that led to that.
Still, Green feels that the league isn’t setting players up to make and keep massive amounts of cash.
Green has definitely lost a good deal of money this year because of his actions.
He was suspended multiple times and was the subject of much controversy.
He was even forced to take time to focus on his mental health and receive counseling.
Through all of that, he lost a lot of money because of how he was fined but most people agree that it was because he wasn’t able to control himself.
In other words, he had no one to blame but himself.
It should also be noted that there are plenty of NBA players who aren’t being fined that often, which also pokes some holes in Green’s argument.
