After an on-court altercation with Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves, in which he got the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year in a headlock during a game, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green was suspended by the league for five games.

In the aftermath of the suspension, Green has finally shared his thoughts on the NBA suspending him for five games, which he seems to think was a bit excessive.

Green believes that he’s continuing to be punished for things he’s done in the past, like when he was suspended for Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, which some believe was the turning point in that series leading to LeBron James winning a title in his hometown.

According to Shayna Rubin of the Mercury News, Green said the following about getting another lengthy suspension by the league for his actions on the basketball floor.

“To continue saying, oh, what he did in the past..I paid for those.  I got suspended for Game 5 of the Finals. So you can’t keep suspending me for those actions.”

The thing that Green doesn’t seem to realize is that if you keep making poor choices on the basketball floor that can lead to players getting hurt, then the league is going to continue to suspend him and make an example of him.

It means he’s not exactly learning his lesson if the NBA has to keep suspending him for things he has done, which clearly is a concept he’s not willing to embrace.

Green needs to realize he can’t fly off the handle whenever he wants without getting punished accordingly.
