Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors is known as one of the most fierce players in the NBA, even when he’s battling against his close friends.
One of his closest friends happens to be LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Speaking on the Podcast P show, Green opened up about his special friendship with James and the way that it manifests on and off-court.
“At the end of the day, I’m trying to win these basketball games, I’m trying to win these championships,” Green said, via ClutchPoints on Twitter, stating that his relationship with James goes on the back burner when they are playing against each other.
“If you stand in the way of that, you stand in the way of that. We gonna battle, and I’ll take your head off,” Green said.
“To this day, I’ll still take Bron’s head off, no problem when we on the court,” he added.
But Green concluded on a positive note:
“There is a respect and a love that’s there that no basketball is gonna change, no game is gonna change, no series is gonna change. That love and respect and that brotherhood is there.”
“[LeBron is] my big brother… Best of friends work at Google and Apple… I’m trying to win these basketball games… If you’re standing in the way of that, we’re gonna battle & I’ll take your head off.”

Green and James have come up in the league together and have been friends for years now.
It’s not uncommon to see the two stars celebrating birthdays and other life events with one another and their families.
Their off-court closeness has led some people to speculate if they could ever play on the same team.
However, with both Green and James committed to their respective teams, it seems unlikely they’ll ever suit up in the same jersey unless it’s for an All-Star or Olympic game.
It is surprising to hear Green speak so fondly of a competitor, considering he is usually such a fiery presence on the court.
But as he said, his love of basketball is strong but his love for friends is just as strong.
