After years together, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are no longer teammates.
Thompson chose to sign a new contract with the Dallas Mavericks, leaving behind the Golden State Warriors and a close friendship with Green.
On “Club 520,” per Courtside Buzz, Green opened up about Thompson saying goodbye and actually said it’s a good thing.
“I’m happy as hell he’s gone because he wasn’t happy anymore,” Green stated.
He said that Thompson loved basketball but wasn’t feeling good about his game and was in a bad mindset that he couldn’t shake, proving it was time to leave and try something else.
“As a brother, I only want what’s best for you, not what’s best for me, not what’s best for this team,” Green said.

The Warriors’ big three consisting of Thompson, Green, and Steph Curry have done and seen amazing things together.
They have claimed four championships, created a dynasty, and changed the NBA forever.
Through it all, there have always been questions and speculation about them staying together for the duration of their careers.
Over the last season, it became apparent that Thompson was in a rut and wasn’t performing like his usual self.
Meanwhile, the team’s front office wasn’t able to work out an extension with him and Thompson had to accept more time on the bench.
When the season came to a close, most people assumed his days with Golden State were over.
While it was surely tough to see his close friend leave, Green obviously feels that it was best for Thompson and that is ultimately what he wants for his friend, brother, and former teammate.
