The Golden State Warriors have gone 7-5 in twelve games since the NBA suspended Draymond Green.

Green was suspended for punching Phoenix Suns big man Jusuf Nurkic during a game.

He had also been tangled up in so many violent incidents throughout the course of his career, even being suspended earlier in the season for keeping Minnesota Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert in a chokehold.

He was handed an indefinite suspension for which he needed to undergo counseling and meet certain criteria before being reinstated.

He’s now ramping up to get back to the floor after getting reinstated, but it seems like he was pretty close to throwing in the towel.

According to a report by Adrian Wojnarowski, the four-time NBA champion admitted he was pretty close to retiring.

Fortunately for him, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver reached out to him and prevented that from happening:

“I told him, ‘Adam this is too much for me. This is too much. It’s all becoming too much for me — and I’m going to retire,’” Green said, per Woj. “And Adam said, ‘You’re making a very rash decision and I won’t let you do that.’”

In a new edition of the Draymond Green Show, Golden State’s star suggests that Adam Silver talked him out of retirement: “I told him, ‘Adam this is too much for me…It’s all becoming too much for me – and I’m going to retire.’” Story on ESPN: https://t.co/He2qlfALBs

Green even praised the Commissioner for being all about the players and not about punishment, which only proves that it was never personal; he just needed to do better.

The Warriors need their vocal leader and best defender back on the court.

No one said it was going to be easy, but he’s a veteran and a fighter, and props to him for continuing to push and try to get through this to do what’s best for him and his team.
