Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors has definitely made some incendiary statements over the years and has ruffled a lot of feathers.
His latest comment takes direct aim at many players in the league and it could land him in hot water again.
Speaking on the Pat Bev Pod, Green said that a lot of athletes in the association lack a comprehensive and definitive knowledge of the game.
“There’s not many guys that have a basketball IQ in the NBA. You’re talking less than 60% of the NBA,” Green said.
Patrick Beverley, co-host of the show, backed Green up with that claim and said that the figure was being generous.
Green added: “Knowing the game of basketball in this league is like one of the biggest skills you can have because it separates you immediately.”

The term “basketball IQ” means different things for different people.
But generally, it’s the ability to understand the game and adjust to any and all scenarios within it.
When people speak about basketball IQ they often refer to players like LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and some of the other biggest names in the NBA.
Obviously, anyone who is signed to a team has to know, love, and understand basketball.
They wouldn’t be playing if it wasn’t something they felt in their bones.
But Green argues that many of them don’t know more than the basics and that is hurting them and their teams.
To really succeeded and be set apart from the rest of the league, players need to comprehend the game in a way that most don’t.
It’ll be interesting to see if Green gets any pushback from these comments.
Is this about to create a larger conversation about basketball IQ?
