Drew Brees Notes What Pelicans Need To Reach Their Potential

The New Orleans Pelicans have had no shortage of talent for years now.

David Griffin has done a solid job of stacking together as many talented prospects as possible, and that includes former No. 1 pick Zion Williamson.

However, that hasn’t exactly translated into success thus far, and a lot of that has had to do with how often their young stars have gotten hurt.

That’s evident even to former NFL star Drew Brees, who recently talked to Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson about how getting the young guys healthy could lead this team to success:

“I always feel that we’ve been always fighting the injury bug in the last few years so, we gotta find a way to stay healthy and get our way into the playoffs and start ascending once we get there,” the former Super Bowl champion said.

Brandon Ingram has been their leader on and off the court since he arrived in the Big Easy, but he’s also missed plenty of time.

Zion’s talents are obviously remarkable and more than notorious, and he’s one of the most entertaining players to watch when he’s on the court.

The only problem is that he’s rarely been on the court, as he’s missed more than 50% of the games since he was taken No. 1 overall.

Zion has struggled to stay in shape, and his raw power has been a disservice to him in terms of healing.

He’s suffered multiple soft-tissue injuries, and he’s taken way more time to heal than the average player.

Williamson’s health has held them back more often than not, which is why some wonder how much longer they’ll be patient with him before considering trading him for more assets.

But if he’s ever healthy, it would be very hard to bet against this team.
