Dustin May certainly hasn’t had it easy over the past few seasons.
At the beginning of the 2021 season, the young right-hander suffered an elbow injury and ultimately required Tommy John surgery.
But the right-hander returned to the mound in 2022.
So far in 2023, May is off to a hot start, and he gave the Los Angeles Dodgers a very strong performance on Thursday night, spoiling the home opener of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The 25-year-old went six innings and allowed just one run on two hits, while walking just two batters and striking out five.
On Twitter, the Dodgers posted a graphic featuring May’s line from Thursday.

A healthy May is a good sign for the Dodgers.
With Walker Buehler out for the season, the Dodgers came into 2023 with a ton of question marks in their starting rotation beyond Julio Urias.
Clayton Kershaw has struggled to stay healthy, as has Tony Gonsolin.
Noah Syndergaard is also not quite where he once was.
But in his first two starts, May has thrown a total of 13 innings, struck out nine batters, posted an 0.62 WHIP, and an ERA of 0.69.
And his dominance was on full display on Thursday against a young, upstart Arizona ballclub.
May could ultimately prove to be the X-factor for the Dodgers in their starting rotation.
The rotation still has some question marks, but if May is healthy and pitches like he did before his injury, then the Dodgers are in good shape and have yet another strong rotation option for the 2023 season.
