The MLB world is thrilled that Shohei Ohtani is participating in the All-Star Game.
He is the best player in the sport and a two-way phenomenon.
No player has ever been able to do what Ohtani can do on a baseball field.
Even though he is unable to pitch in the game, he will still bat second as the designated hitter.
The season he is having this year might be the best of his MLB career.
He leads baseball in home runs and is third in RBI, while also being fourth in the league in pitching strikeouts.
AL manager Dusty Baker had significant praise for Ohtani and his skills.
According to MLB on Twitter, Baker said, “He’s the most incredible athlete I’ve ever seen in baseball.”

Baker has been in baseball for a long time so that is certainly high praise.
But there has never been a player with this much two-way success since Babe Ruth.
It is a shame we have never been able to see Ohtani play in the postseason.
That could ultimately be what drives him away from the Angels.
With the Angels looking at another disappointing year it would not be a surprise to see them shop Ohtani at the trade deadline.
With Ohtani being a free agent at season’s end, the Angels would be wise to move him now and get a massive package in return.
It is rare for a player of that caliber to get traded, yet Ohtani getting moved could change the course of baseball history.
