Dwyane Wade is an NBA legend and is considered one of the best point guards of all time.

But even though he is thought of as a basketball legend now, it didn’t come to him easily.

Speaking on “7PM In Brooklyn,” Wade spoke about his journey to the league and just how hard it was.

He said that he “came in the back door” of the NBA and that most people didn’t even know who he was when he played in college.

He had to work through obscurity and injury before he even got drafted.

But once he did, he was able to make his mark, have a huge impact, and prove to the world how special he was.

Wade went to school at Marquette and he said he flew mostly under the radar.

Unlike others in his rookie class, Wade wasn’t drumming up a ton of interest during his time in college.

That changed as the 2003 NBA draft approached and Wade was eventually selected as the fifth overall pick.

Of course, he was behind megastars like LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, meaning he was somewhat overshadowed from the start.

But Wade got to work right away and posted 16.2 points and 4.5 assists per game in his rookie year.

That was good enough to have him in the running for Rookie of the Year and also gained the attention of millions.

After that, Wade continued to set records, earn fans, and shape the future of the Miami Heat.

Wade knew that the cards were stacked against him but he never lost faith in what he could do.
