Dwight Howard played 18 years in the NBA and was named an All-Star eight times, blocking champion twice, and even earned a championship ring with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.

Following that last season with the Lakers, Howard left the league and has been playing overseas.

But he is angling to make his way back to the States and his old team.

According to NBA inside Brandon Robinson, Howard “would like to play for the Lakers again.”

Howard’s relationship with the Lakers was complicated, to put it gently

He first played for the team in 2012-13, as part of their much-anticipated big three consisting of him, Kobe Bryant, and Steve Nash.

During that season, Howard averaged 17.1 points and 12.4 rebounds (a league-high).

However, the Lakers struggled and Howard butted heads often with Bryant.

That led to him leaving LA after one season and being seen as a pariah within the organization.

He came back in both 2019-20, helping them win a championship, and then again in 2021-22.

Since then, Howard has enjoyed his time playing in Taiwan but he has kept a high profile, doing multiple interviews, giving his input about the league, and toying with the idea of coming back to the NBA.

Although Howard wants to return to the Lakers, that might not happen because of legal issues surrounding him.

It is being reported by RadarOnline that Howard is being sued and accused of assaulting a man he met on Instagram.

We don’t know what will happen with that situation but it would definitely have a huge impact on his chances of coming back to any team in the NBA.
