Even though Joel Embiid’s NBA career got off to a rocky start, with injuries holding back his debut for the Philadelphia 76ers, he has come into his own over the past few years while cementing his legacy as one of the league’s best centers.
Although Embiid’s talent is undeniable as he is as versatile as they come at the center position, he struggles with injuries on an annual basis as the 76ers never know what they are going to get from the superstar, as he always seems to be on the mend.
Embiid was able to battle back from a meniscus injury in order to get back on the floor for his team in the first round of the NBA playoffs when they faced a scrappy New York Knicks team that ultimately came out on top.
After the first-round series came to an end, there was a lot of debate about Embiid’s future and how he should approach it, as he clearly wasn’t himself against the Knicks.
Former NBA star Dwight Howard talked about what Embiid should do in order to avoid injuries, via ClutchPoints.
“I think [Joel Embiid] is too heavy for the wear and tear of an NBA season,” Howard said. “I think if he loses 20 pounds, it’ll be great for his knees.”

Losing weight can always help a superstar center, as it would relieve pressure on his bones, namely his knees, and give Embiid a chance to take Philadelphia to another level.
Only time will tell how things pan out for Embiid, as he and the team need to count on him when the NBA postseason begins.
