It’s not a secret that NBA players make way more money than the average person.

But likewise, they also spend way more, and what could seem like pocket change to them is actually more than most people make in one year.

Even so, NBA players are often quite careful with their money.

According to Dwight Howard, that’s why you rarely see them actually getting into fights, as the cost of throwing punches is just not worth it.

In his latest appearance on the ‘My Expert Opinion’ show, Howard explained how a single punch could cost a player up to $2 million.

Howard explains that a fine for fighting could ascend to $200,000, and then you lose more money for every game you get suspended.

Standing at 6’10” and 265 pounds, Howard was a physical force in his prime, and even NBA players would have to think twice before looking to get into a fight or physical altercation of any sort with him.

Even so, and regardless of his character and the many times he was tangled up in back-and-forth with other players, Howard rarely engaged in physical violence, and now you know why.

Howard made north of $240 million throughout his playing days and lost more than one million due to fines and suspensions.

Taking a look at the big picture, one million out of $240 million is pretty much nothing, but we’re still talking about a million dollars, so props to him for trying to keep money in his pocket by avoiding violence.
