After a third stint with the Los Angeles Lakers came to an end in 2022, three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Dwight Howard has struggled to find a job in the league, as he has been playing overseas after being unable to sign with another NBA squad.
Although Howard seems to have enjoyed his time playing overseas, as he was the main attraction like he once was in the NBA with the Orlando Magic, he desperately wants to end his playing career where it all began.
Howard may have bounced around the league quite a bit after he was traded from the Magic to the Lakers in 2012, but he’ll always have a soft spot for the team that drafted him with the No. 1 overall pick in 2004.
With the Magic being a team that is on the rise with Paolo Banchero leading the way, Howard would like to end his career in Orlando while getting another shot to win with the team he led to the NBA Finals in 2009, via NBACentral.
“If I could go back to a team, I got to go finish with the Magic,” Howard said. “It’s only right.”

Obviously, at this point in his career, Howard isn’t close to the same dominant force he once was with the Magic, but he could provide the team with some veteran and championship experience, which the team is sorely lacking right now.
Only time will tell if Howard has played his last game in the NBA, but considering how he takes care of himself, he might get one more shot in the league before he calls it a career.
