On a staff with Lance Lynn and Lucas Giolito, Chicago White Sox right-handed pitcher Dylan Cease developed into the best hurler on the team and one of the best in the American League.
In 2022, he pitched 184 innings and had a 2.20 ERA and 227 strikeouts.
Those numbers earned him a place among the AL Cy Young finalists last year, along with Justin Verlander and Alek Manoah.
However, he somehow wasn’t chosen to represent the American League in the 2022 All-Star Game.
It has to be one of the biggest snubs in recent memory.

Evidently, Cease did everything in his power (and then some) to be elected to the game, with no luck.
You have seen his end-of-the-season numbers, but they were even more impressive at the halfway mark.
Cease had a 2.15 ERA in 104.2 frames, striking out 150 hitters.
That’s complete dominance right there.
He should definitely have been there, but the league screwed up big-time.
He was one of the league’s best starters at the moment of choosing the players for the Midsummer Classic.
Cease, at 27, is still young and probably has many All-Star Games in his future.
He has come a long way from that guy who couldn’t take advantage of his excellent fastball velocity to get strikeouts.
He is now a legitimate strikeout artist who is almost untouchable on the mound.
Several circumstances robbed him from the chance to enjoy a weekend among the stars last year.
