There is a new development in the defensive backfield out in Philadelphia.
According to head coach Nick Sirianni, the team has been trying veteran cornerback James Bradberry out at safety during OTAs.
“He’s working into doing some of the safety stuff…I’m excited about that,” Sirianni recently told the Philadelphia media (via Eliot Shorr-Parks).
Wow — Nick Sirianni says James Bradberry is taking reps at safety
Says lots of great corners have gone on to be great safeties
Unclear if that’s a permanent move, but it is interesting pic.twitter.com/LNqW5aZUTh

As Sirianni also stated, Bradberry has played the majority of his career at cornerback.
With the addition of versatile rookie defensive back Cooper DeJean, the Eagles could be looking to try out multiple looks in the hopes of confusing opposing offenses.
Bradberry, a 2022 All-Pro in Philly and a 2020 Pro-Bowler with the New York Giants, has locked down the boundary and slot for his entire eight-year career.
Trying him out at safety would be very interesting.
With six-time Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay still in the fold in new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s defense, the team can afford to make some switches here or there.
In his career, Bradberry has 112 pass deflections, 19 interceptions, and 478 total tackles.
Philadelphia will be changing their look defensively this season with the loss of franchise legend Fletcher Cox in the interior.
Look for Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter to take over as the stars of the interior, along with Bryce Huff and veteran Brandon Graham both on the edge.
Former All-Pro linebacker Devin White and Nakobe Dean will control the middle of the field.
Then, it will be up to Bradberry and Co. to lock down the backend so that they don’t come under attack through the air.
